Why do the Understanding of Music Seminar™ now?

This is to all of you who might be interested in attending the upcoming Understanding of Music Seminar . The world has changed dramatically over the last few years and everyone is having to adjust to new ways of working and relaxing. For example, I have transitioned from traveling thousands of miles each year around the world to five continents to now delivering all my seminars online!

This online version of the seminar is producing stunning results and graduates are writing testimonials that state the level of understanding they have gained in 3 days often exceeds years or even decades of previous musical studies and frustration.

One of the reasons is how intimate the seminar experience has now become. I have built a full audio-visual studio with close-up cameras for keyboard and guitar that show every detail on your screen and have created hundreds of original slides and animations so that every concept and diagram is demonstrated in simple, easy-to-learn steps. Such a close-up experience is not possible in a live seminar with 80 or more attendees. I am able to stay in contact with each attendee working through seminar materials together and you will be excited to do each drill as you learn each new piece of knowledge.

I know how many of you might be tired of all the Zoom, Skype, etc. time you now have to spend on your computers but I can honestly promise you this is a state-of-the-art experience which will hold your attention and interest from beginning to end.

So what will you learn in this seminar? You will learn the hidden history of Western music and learn why a subject that was once understood by every schoolchild in Ancient Greece is being learnt by less and less people each year. You will find out how complexities were added just to stop the average man or woman from learning to play an instrument. You will understand the physics of music; frequency, pitch, tone, interval, octave and why the music of one culture sounds so different to the music of other cultures.

You will learn your note names on every Western musical instrument, including the keyboard, guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, violin, cello, trumpet, saxophone and so on! You will be able to play every scale on both keyboard and guitar and be creating simple jazz improvisation by the second day. You will be able to play every chord on both keyboard and guitar and be reading song charts for artists like the Beatles by the third day. You will learn lots of original exercises to quickly build your finger coordination on both keyboard and guitar including an exercise that teaches you basic Blues improvisation.

You are given a simple 10 minute a day lesson program that gets you to a very high standard of playing in weeks instead of months or years. And, this program really works! You will know exactly what you need to practice each second of the10 minute a day lesson program.

If all this sounds too good to be true then you can begin to understand my problem in sharing what I do with people around the world. How can you be sure this is not a scam that is trying to part you from your hard-earned money or that I am promising things which are not actually delivered in the seminar? Well, I now have close to 40,000 graduates and what I do has been written about in magazines and newspapers and I have appeared many, many times on television and radio. And, as the saying goes, you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time!

If you are not 100% happy with what you receive in the seminar after the first day of delivery, simply let the Organizer know and receive full refund. All you stand to lose is the investment of one day of your time. But if you do not take a leap of faith and register for the upcoming seminar you will never knowhow close you came to realizing your musical dreams.

I know that some of you have the idea that Duncan will eventually return to touring in person but why would use an old format that is inferior to this new online format that creates a 100% better result for graduates 🙂

Why put off your attendance in 2024 when you could be using the musical ability you have always dreamed about ?

So, if you have read this far, then thank you very much for your attention. I sincerely hope you will take that leap of faith and allow me to open the door to a whole new world of music with the seminar that turns beginners into musicians and lifts musicians who can already play to totally new heights of creativity!

If you have any questions about cost, schedule, requirements etc. please contact the Organizer of the Understanding of Music Seminar for further details.

Why do I deliver these seminars. My father raised me as a Buddhist and in Buddhism there is a concept that with all knowledge comes responsibility. I have spent 55 years of my life building an extremely detailed knowledge about music and I have developed a unique and revolutionary way to deliver that knowledge. With all knowledge comes the responsibility of sharing that knowledge. I would be very happy to share it with you,

Stay healthy, happy and creative,

Duncan Lorien

Aspiring musicians might finally find the right key in Boston next month as Nahant based musician Duncan Lorien unravels the basics for locals finding their voice. International recording artist, composer, and music educator, Lorien will offer “Understanding the Basics of Singing Seminar™” from July 8-9 for anyone interested in mastering the basics of singing through his revolutionary approach. His two-day class will break down the basics of singing and live performance by giving students the tools to deal with stage fright, while dramatically increasing their stage presence. “There are so many programs out there for people who want to sing,” Lorien said. “It is designed for the average man or woman who’s had a desire to sing but hasn’t always had the confidence to use their voice.” Participants will learn simple drills to increase breath and pitch control, as well as range and tonal quality. Lorien’s radical approach explains each of these concepts so attendees can gain comfort in singing and performance in just one weekend. Lorien’s Boston class will be one of three internationally renowned seminars offered by Lorien through his Understanding of Music Company. The Understanding of Music Company was founded in 1991. Since then, Lorien has conducted seminars in more than 16 countries on six continents, with more than 25,000 graduates worldwide. His extensive fan base, built by his unique methodology, has received critical acclaim throughout the U.S, Europe, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia. With 20-plus years of research into the history and teaching of Western music, Lorien is invested in helping people find their talents. “This is the way music was always meant to be,” he said. “It’s a subject for the common man, not just the chosen few. I want to bring music back to the people — where it belongs — and show just the chosen few. I want to bring music back to the people — where it belongs — and show everyone that it is not a complex, serious subject but a fun, freeing experience to learn and master any instrument, including the voice.” Lorien has worked as a recording artist, songwriter and producer with BMG Publishing, EMI Records, Polygram, PRT Records, Chappell, Carlin, Intersong, Ocean Disque and ARC Records. He had two #1 albums with guitarist Martin Daley, “Architects of Time” and “Dreams of the Yes Men.” Lorien writes and performs many musical styles, including: rock, jazz, blues, and classical and recently released a rock instrumental album, “One Life at a Time,”. The seminar is open to anyone who wishes to expand knowledge and understanding of singing, from beginners to professional musicians and music teachers. The seminar will total 13 hours over Saturday and Sunday. It is asked that attendees be at least 13 years of age. Lorien, who’s spent more than 45 years teaching music, has yet to find someone who can’t sing, he said. “A teacher’s job is to inspire the individual on their own musical journey,” he said. “And if you can do that, you’ve done the very best for your students.” Matt Demirs can be reached at mdemirs@itemlive.com
